I love the little "Snipping Tool"! That will come in handy and another 3rd party program I won't have to install. :-) Paula

When i try to use it; put a box around the area i want to capture, all the letters turn into different colors and get distorted. What am I doing wrong?
Sounds like a video driver problem. What card do you have? Paula

When I try to use tht snipping tool, all the letters are differeny colors and distorted. What am I doing wrong? Everything else seems to be working fine in Vista.
I think this is a video driver related, I got the same on one platform type, but can't remember what now...

Are you sure everything else? Take a screen shot of your desktop with Print Screen and try pasting it in Paint. If it appears to have the same distorsion that the snip tool has, then it sounds like you have the same problem I have, and from what I've heard, what most people with Pixel shader 2.0 capable Geforce cards. It is a driver bug.

I was just reading about the 'snipping tool' but I don't have it on my computer. Where can I get it? I'm using Vista Beta2 5384. Thanks.
Hello,
The snipping tool is located in the start menu, under all programs, then accessories.
Or, just click start, and type snipping into the search box. :)

I was able to install the tool by going to Control Panel | Programs | Windows Features | Tablet PC Optional Components. But it still doesn't work. I get a message that the snipping tool is not working right now and I need to restart my computer or contact administrator. Neither does any good. Anybody? Thanks!

Available where Jimmy said and works fine. Why complicate matters.

John, you obviously didn't read either post I wrote. Simple to do!

While I read your posts, I assumed as Jimmy did, that you were looking in the wrong place. Sorry, I missed you are on the latest version also. Also you didn't say you were using a tabletPC so the second post If you don't have the snippingtool.exe in your system32 folder, why don't you see if you can copy it from the 5381 cd and make a shortcut? You may have to do it in safe mode logged in as administrator.

I'm not using a Tablet PC. I uninstalled all files for it in order to get rid of things I didn't need. Reinstalled it and I have the Snipping Tool that doesn't work. I suspect something else I uninstalled has to do with the tool as well. Anyway the snipping tool doesn't work. I don't have an earlier version of Vista. If anyone wants to post the 5381 version of the snipping tool I'll take it. Thanks for the replies.

Report the bug. The advice you are getting is likely from users not using the Tablet PC edition.

First post. Also didn't know there was a separate Tablet PC Edition.
I'm using Vista Beta2 5384

I should have said "using a Tablet PC." Setup detects it and configures accordingly.

I guess I am missing something. His post says
I'm not using a Tablet PC. I uninstalled all files for it in order to get rid of things I didn't need
If he is NOT using a Tablet PC, how does it detect it. If he deleted files he thought he didn't need, how would you suggest he restore this function.

I think I got that idea from his second post. Scratch that.
